Ok so I am new to the electric rc thing and I need to pick up some batteries and a charger. Cheap would be nice but I do want good life and run times out of the batteries and a fast charger. I dont need the best gear out there just something that will work well and is not junk. What do u guys reccommend?

Thanks in advance

Get some IB4200 cells (I run a stick pack, under 40 bucks.)

I a Digital Piranha charger (price isn't too bad and its real good.)

Links are for reference.

well the run time on those batteries you posted would probably be half the time of the ib 4200's. Try to get get some 3300's. Radio shack had some for 25 bucks or so. look around

Run time and punch would be weak.. Not worth it IMO, go with at least a IB3800 pack!

These (Venom 3000) would be a little better than what you listed for only 5$ extra but maybe you could get a little bit cheaper charger with a better battery.

My dad has some of those radioshack GP3300's and they are a great pack. I opted for the maxamps 4000mah (now replaced on there site with the 4400mah packs)...

check out maxamps.com or boomboombatteries.com they have great packs there. Also check out batteryspace.com and all-battery.com I can't vouch all battery or batteryspace's quality or pack punch but they do have good prices....

these are the radio shack batteries. Best bang for the buck I have seen.

Ok well I found this charger that is cheaper and looks like it could get the job done here it is http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSF53&P=0 and I guess I will ditch the cheap batteries and go with the venom ones http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHUJ9&P=WR I dont need crazy power or anything but I dont want to be underpowered either i guess u go by the numbers so 3000 isent too bad right?

Also about how long of a run time will that venom battery get me and how long should it take to charge with that duratrax fast charger?

I don't know anything about that charger but I didn't see anyplace where it says it charges nihm batteries. You might want to find out for sure about that before you buy it.

Don't get that charger. its a timed charger. you will either have an undercgarged pack or burn out your cells.
Spend a few more bucks on something like this.

Boomboombatteries has IB4200's for $38 and Deans for $3 extra... Or buy SMC from Tower, same price.
Good batteries are essential, they drive the whole car.
